July 16th 2016 will be the last Music in Wanstead Park. After seventeen years it is time for a change...so come along and enjoy one of East London's only community-based large outdoor events for the last time.
We start an hour earlier at 1pm -just in time for lunch.
You could help make the last Music in Wanstead Park the best one by helping our team of volunteers, eg on the Main Gate or running craft workshops. Friends of Wanstead Parklands will be hosting a stall. New ideas for activities or stalls are always welcome.
The event begins with a bang with the London School of Samba Procession and ends with lively dance band Grooveability. Excellent refreshments will be on sale. Or bring your own picnic- but remember this is a glass-free event!
Tons of excitement : Spider Mountain, Crazy Bikes, Rollapaluza static bike racing, live snakes and ferrets, Mr Alexander's astounding Travelling Show, Kinovan vintage London film etc etc....
2016 ticket prices : a day's fun for £5 for children and £10 for adults ; free for under 4's
You are invited to a Special General Meeting of the Friends of Wanstead Parklands on the Wednesday 11th May at 7.00pm at Wanstead Golf Club. We are meeting because we need to further slightly amend our constitution to receive charitable status and require a minimum of 20 members to do so. Please see the updated draft constitution.
So we thought we would make the meeting a bit more than just a meeting! We are going to include a finger buffet and short tour of the historic buildings and feature around the Golf Club.
7.00pm Meet at bar and finger buffet
7.30pm Walk through former stables (Golf Club!), past the church and onto the Golf Course to visit the site of the House and if we have time to return via the Octagonal Lake which once graced the front of the House.
8.00pm Special General Meeting
Introduction to the Meeting
Change of constitution and charity status
Update on Park Plan and Heritage Lottery Fund application
Update on Tea Hut Tesco’s application
The Meeting will finish at 9.00pm and those who chose can retire to bar
