Choosing future priorities for leisure and culture in Redbridge

Ilford Town Hall 700px

The message below relates to Rebridge's consultation on the future of leisure and cultural services in the borough. There is an online questionnaire which we would encourage you to complete.

Our view is that Redbridge needs to aim at a balanced provision of services. Non-statutory spending should not be seen as an easy target, but covers many areas of intrinsic worth which, if destroyed or gutted, may be impossible ever to reinstate.

Dear Partner,

You will be aware of the significant financial pressures on Redbridge Council between now and the end of the decade, which will have an impact on services across the Council. I am determined that we must do all we can to protect and enhance the leisure and cultural offer in our borough and so I have established a cross-party Leisure and Cultural Strategy Advisory Panel.

This Panel will consider:

  • Evidence of the existing Leisure and Cultural offer in the Borough
  • How the needs of the population for the services are currently being met
  • Views of residents and partners through consultation and engagement activities

The outcome of the Panel’s work will be to generate a draft Leisure and Cultural Strategy 2015 – 19 for Redbridge, which will be considered by Cabinet in the summer.

Meanwhile please give us your views on our online survey to ensure that your voice is heard as part of the development process of the strategy.

Please encourage your organisations and user groups to also complete the survey.

I look forward to working with you to help shape the future Leisure and Culture offer in Redbridge.

Best wishes,

Wes
