On Sunday 15 June members of the Friends of Wanstead Parklands will be leading a free walk around Wanstead Park. A gentle stroll over about two miles, the main purpose of the walk will be to explain the history, construction and problems of the lake system in the park, which dates in its present form from the first half of the eighteenth century.
The walk will start at 11:00am from the entrance on Blake Hall Road. It will finish at The Temple, a garden house built by John, 2nd Earl Tylney of Castlemaine, which is now a visitor centre open at weekends.
Please be aware that paths in Wanstead Park can be muddy - suitable footwear should be worn.
