Lakes: bathymetric survey under way

The vital hydrological study of Wanstead Park is now under way. One of the first tasks is to undertake a detailed survey of the lakes (called a Bathymetric Survey) that will map the profile of each lake below the water surface so we can find out how much water they can hold and the amount of silt that has accumulated. This survey work is being undertaken during October by specialist surveyors working for a Sussex based company called Maltby Land Surveys.

The photos show them at work on the Ornamental Water.
