The Temple in Wanstead Park has been given a new look by the park's custodian, the City of London. It was felt that the former layout was too cluttered, and that a better balance needed to be struck between displaying the building and providing visitors with information.
The information panels formerly in the central room have accordingly been removed in order to show it to better advantage. The space is now used for the sale of books and merchandise.
A new series of panels with more condensed content have been installed in the former shop area. This has now become a new permanent exhibition space and activity area devoted to the history of the park. Downstairs, the smaller room now houses a small display about the Forest Keepers, while the larger remains a temporary exhibition area.
We'll be interested to learn what visitors think.
