The Wanstead Historical Society was founded in 1961. The aim of the Society is to foster an interest in the local history of Wanstead and the surrounding district and in history in general. The Society presents a series of lectures on all aspects of history, both local and national.
The annual subscription is £10.00 for individuals and £16.00 for couples (or two people living at the same address.) For this members can attend all lectures without further charge.
All meetings are held on the third Thursday of the month from September to May. Doors open at 8.00pm prompt. The meetings are open to visitors for a charge of £3.00. Refreshments are available. Meetings take place in the Churchill Room, Wanstead Library, Spratt Hall Road, Wanstead Ell 2EQ. Facilities are provided for disabled visitors.
The programme may be read or downloaded here. Friends of Wanstead Parklands committee member Tricia Moxey will be speaking on "The Lost Gardens of Wanstead" on 19 September.
